So Is A Smile!

Just as sweet as the flow’rs in bloom
of spring array’d
So is a smile, such lovely portrait
of a semblance portray’d.
Just as the mountains beamed
to gape on spring
So is a smile, as light as feather
refreshment it brings.

Just as fresh dewdrops glisten
like glass beads pearly spray
So is a smile, a glimpse
of heaven’s matchless display!
Just as lovely blossoms beam like
the morning sunshine
So is a smile, momentary troubles
Compel to unwind.

Just as the nightingale seranades
her lullaby by sunfall
So is a smile, of a little child’s
who hears its mother’s call.
Just as the bees kissing the soft
velvety petals of a rose
So is a smile, inequities are forgiven
and silences the opposed.

An ORANGE day at the backyard.
Enjoy and watch a favourite song of mine. I love, love this video! Trust me, you’ll be left grinning the whole day!

Blessings from Perth!

When I was 19

(birthday poem for secondborn, Jed)

When I was 19, I didn't have a dream
Was passing through time and oblivious, it seemed.
Now that you're 19, dreams are big for you,
You pray and work at it, I see that's what you do.

When I was 19, I made so many mistakes
And I never, ever knew what was at stake.
Now that you're 19, you've had mistakes and all
But that's okay, it will equip you for the haul.

When I was 19, I kept friends to just a few
The old are my bestfriends, and some, I made anew
Now that you're 19, you're everyone's bestfriend!
From them I only hear good stuff and all the high commend.

When I was 19, I was always on a panic
I ran like a fool, or so I was a manic.
Now that you're 19, you keep composed, always cool
You take your time that oftentimes you're late for school.

When I was 19, I was unmindful, forever a kid
My steps were unsure, never knowing what I did.
Now that you're 19, I expect you'll say, "I'm just a kid",
But you're mature, you use your head to think!

When I was 19, I sew, I drifted, and I wrote poetry
I loved the arts, I painted, I danced and such, you see?
Now that you're 19, your hands get dirty and busy
Skillful in metalworks, at home you're such a handy!

When I was 19, I had no work nor a good job
Sure, some business on the side, but end up a flop.
Now that you're 19, at work you excell, you make us proud!
You bloom where you are planted, you stand out in the crowd!

When I was 19, I rode on my parents' cars
They won't let me drive, they said, "just because".
Now that you're 19, you bought your first sexy "whip"
Oh so sleek and shiny, it made my eyes flick!

The only good thing about my being 19 then
was when I met your Pop
Now that you're 19, you linger, you don't rush
You know she'll come around, this you must trust!

I'm more than double the age of 19, but I'm proud of you
Will be here, will pray, will guide you, will always do.
Now that you're 19, my son, keep your faith strong
laugh, love and enjoy life's blessings that come along!

Belated Happy birthday, kiddo! (July 18)
I love you, Jeddi! Congrats on your first car! Can you take your not-so-young mum for a spin?

Of Rainbows
And
Sunrise

Winter clouds may appear gloomy and grey
Yet no, that will not ruin my day.
For it no longer usher rain or storm
Enough of the sadness, weary and mourn.

Hello sunrise! You bring forth light -
Oh my, you are such a wonderful sight!
Etched on the sky, the colors of the rainbow
I stop and took you all in, what a view!

In the heavenlies, God’s HOPE is displayed
Oh how pleasant it is, with my heart at ease.
Of rainbows and sunrise or by moonlight skies
Your splendor spread out, O Lord, as You please!

My friend, your sky may be heavy and impervious
Your trials may be lonesome, crooked and mischievous
I pray that may your mountains rise above the clouds
And know no limits, God’s GRACE and LOVE abounds!

I dedicate this poem to a very good friend of mine, JM. This was the view coming home from night shift. The sunrise on the east tells of God's hope and the rainbow westforth portrays of His amazing grace. You are in my thoughts and in my prayers, dearest friend. Be strong. Know that you are not alone in this journey. God be with you!

The Spring of Winter

The winter comes; I walk alone,
No bird in sight that  sing;
For me to keep my heart my own
The winter is "my" spring.
No flowers to see--no bees that hum--
The coming spring's already come.
I will love the cold, the slippery road
I’ll keep warm in my abode.
All sacred gifts sent unto us
Are made by God's own hands -
And always, they are precious ones
To love just as He plans!
While lillies in the valley rest,
And clad are crystal trees...
A lifeless day revives the soul
Through coldness on a breeze.
These heavenly troves to come our way,
So beautiful, big or small...
Will touch our lives through each new day -
God's gifts... they're best of all!

To my "Fantastic Four"

Looking at this picture, gives Oh so much delight in my life
It brings deep joy, my heart can’t express much, words are not enough
The day each of you were born, I knew my world will forever change
I still recall the endurance I have to take, for each labor and pain.

Each of you taught me so much, about unconditional love and such
Your lives showed me life’s meaning, to live for everyday.
You brought me so much more than I can ever dare to dream
Pop and I are so proud of you in each and every way.

CJ, our firstborn, so ambitious, determined, strong and focused
You’ve led a good example to your siblings, one for being courageous.
Jed, fun- loving, creative, hardworking and persevering
You are becoming the man of great honor, what great joy you bring!

Our Daisy, sensitive, pure, as delicate as the lovely flower
You’re amazingly beautiful inside, you bring forth great power.
The lovely Caila, demure, so serving, keen and mature
Your words bring healing, the tightest hugs makes everyone secure.

More often you fight, you disagree, and the unending whine
But  you forgive with words and you forget with a tight embrace.
You are siblings, don’t ever forget, you were knitted in my womb
You’re one, same blood one vine, you're Pop’s and mine, our very own.

Your personalities are so different yet, at times you are the same,
You all love Jesus, hearts are quiet, actions are confident, tongues are tamed,
The one thing I know for sure that will keep you upright and true
You will love each other so and treasure the godly values we taught you.

You hold such strong kinship that transcends the ties of blood
Honor it, nourish it, protect it, keep it alive, keep it always new
Watch out, support each other always, remember you are one
God will bind and bless you through each life journey as you go.

You have grown so fast, we wish your youth had remained
Your parents’ love so profound and deep, so difficult to explain
Someday you’ll be gone, maybe far away, you’ll have families too
Our precious ones, simply know we’re just here, and that we love you so.

A mother's heart

I took pictures of you today and thought about time
Thought about the day I run out of mine
Wondered if I've done enough to let you know~
How much I love you; Did I help you to grow?

Have your Father and I taught you the most that we possibly could?
Did we make life and love something you understood?
Did we cover the bases and reach out for more?
Did we give you the tools for what life has in store?

It took me a while as I sat and pondered
Is there anything else that they might have wondered?
You know that I love you, I hope that you know
My life was more blessed when I had you.

Do you know the importance of God in your life?
Do you know that with Him you'll handle any strife?
How important it is to continue to learn?
How bridges are useless if you let them burn?

Will you remember the lessons that we've tried to teach you?
And the moments spent together when we tried to reach you?
It's alright to fail and make a few mistakes~
Just as long as you learn something along the way.

You'll treat people with kindness but not be a fool
You'll thank us someday that you've finished school.
And when someday, you begin your careers~
We've modeled hardwork, will equip you through the years.

You'll see that the grass is not always greener~
When you find the right woman, you'll know how to treat her.
Honor her, respect her, love her, commit to her
Your covenant with your lifetime partner will stand forever.

You'll stand up when it's needed, defending your rights
Please be careful to only choose the right fights.
Not everything matters as much as it may appear
Sometimes "forever" is gone the next year.

Keep close to each other whatever it may take
Family is important, never let that bond break.
Look after each other, do not put one asunder
Reach out your hand when one's about to surrender.

Let HIS solid WORD guide you through troubling days
Hearts can confuse you, may put you in a haze
Stand firm in your faith, become the men I know you can be
Honorable, respectable, loving, happy and free.

Our dreams for you, I hope we've shown
The rest you'll have to learn on your own
Just remember to keep your feet on solid ground
By God's grace, you will not drown.

Spread your wings, fly and be free
Follow your dreams and go out there and shine!
I love you my sons, dont ever forget it
Be the men that God created you to be.

Our Little Peanut is an Angel

She is our little angel and she does flap her wings-
She is like sunshine, oh so much delight she brings.
She brightens up dreary days with her melodious laughs,
She is such a joy, what such blessing to have.

Her face so sweet, so innocent, so pure.
Some days she can be willful but oftentimes, demure.
She gives the yummiest hugs from morning ‘til night.
Her warm embrace heals, so loving, so tight.

We call her “Little Peanut” as she is such
Her little giggles we hear so sweet, she is loved so much.
She dances so gracefully and swings her hips to and fro
Oh my darling Caila, you’re so adorable, do you know?

She said, “I want to be a nurse, just like you Mum, someday.
I want to help sick people get well, is that okay?”
When she sees someone is sad, it opens up her heart.
She wants to do all that she can, she wants to do her part.

She'll squeeze away the sorrow and make you forget the pain.
She shows you where the sun is when you’re hiding from the rain.
She brings you hydrangeas from the garden, all white, pink, and some blue-
While she holds your hand, so warm to show you the morning dew.

My heavenly Father must love me when HE brought my angel’s face.
I remember I held her in my arms cradled in a fancy little lace
That very moment, I recall when she came into my world,
I knew that she was so much more, in my hands she curled.

Every night she says her prayers and as she goes to sleep
I pray dear Lord, please protect my little angel and always keep.
Annoint her talk, her hands, her dreams and precious wishes too,
And someday let her be the woman that praises and glorifies YOU!

Happy birthday, our Little Peanut, our angel! Love you, love you, LOVE YOU!

I dream of Spring!

Windows all closed
Dreary winter, all wet
nippy wind ferociously bold
Leaves me miserably cold.
Where are the tulips,
the golden sunshine?
lovely ladybug that creeps
the scents of roses divine?
The air so blunt
The skies all taunt
Melodious bluebird
Will you sing again?
Oh,  I long for the teasing
colorful sights
Of blooms and buds  of trees
As they develop into leaves
The love watching new life
As the baby birds
and butterflies
And baby creatures
learning, creeping,
crawling, buzzing!
the look of children’s faces
for new sounds,
new beginnings!
A new flame
unfolding, yearning,
hugging, loving.
Hurry dear Spring,
how I so long for thee!
As of now I dream
For you to come swiftly
‘tis the season
that most revives me.

The Nurse

The world grows better year after year
Because of some nurse in her little sphere,
Puts on her apron and grins and sings
and keeps on going, the same old things.

Taking the vital signs, giving the pills
To remedy mankind's numberless ills;
Feeding and cuddling the baby while answering the bells
Being polite with a heart bequething.

A caring heart, a gentle touch,
Oh how I long to see you well, that much.
In the little time, in my small little way,
"I feel much better", I pray that you say.

Longing for home and all the while,
wearing the same felicitous professional smile.
Blessing the newborn babe's first breath
and closing the eyes that are still in their death.

At times, taking the blame for the doctor's mistakes
Oh dear, what a lot of patience it takes!
Pulled a night shift and off duty at seven o'clock
tired, discouraged and ready to drop!

But called back for emergency special at 7:15!
With woe in my heart, yet, in my eyes not to be seen.
Morning and evening, noon and night,
praying, hoping, and doing what's right.

When I lay down my cap and cross the bar,
Oh Lord, will you give me just one little star?
To wear with my crown and with my white uniform, new
In that city above, where the Head Nurse is You!

Did Jesus Use a Modem?

I have heard this poem once recited on air at my favorite christian radio station. I thought I'd share this. It's a simple poem, yet points out to the realities of how much modern, high-tech world eats up most of our time rather than having an intimate fellowship with our God.

God bless you as you read this poem.

ooo00000ooo

Did Jesus use a modem,
At the Sermon on the Mount?
Did He ever try a broadcast fax,
To send His message out
Did the disciples carry beepers,
As they went about their route?
Did Jesus use a modem,
At the Sermon on the Mount?

Did Paul use a laptop,
With lots of RAM and ROM?
Were his letters posted on a BBS,
@ Paul.Rome.Com?
Did the man from Macedonia,
Send an E-Mail saying "Come?"
Did Paul use a Laptop,
With lots of RAM and ROM?

Did Moses use a joystick,
At the parting of the Sea?
And a Satellite Guidance Tracking System,
To show him where to be?
Did he write the law on tablets,
Or are they really on CD?
Did Moses use a joystick,
At the parting of the Sea?

Did Jesus really die for us,
One day upon a tree?
Or was it just a Hologram,
Or Technical Wizardry?
Can you download the Live Action Video Clip,
To play on your PC?
Did Jesus really die for us,
One day upon a tree?

Have the wonders of this modern age,
Made you question what is true?
How a single man, in a simple time,
Could offer life anew?
How a sinless life, a cruel death,
Then a glorious life again,
Could offer more to a desperate world,
Than all the inventions of man?

If in your life, the voice of God,
Is sometimes hard to hear.
With other voices calling,
His doesn't touch your ear.
Then set aside your laptop and modem,
And all your fancy gear.
And open your Bible,
open your heart,
And let your Father draw near.

COLD White Walls and Shiny Floors

(What shall the future hold? My thoughts about nursing in a foreign land away from home)

Soon will there be long hours of walking, long walks of caring
When the sun sets, the shiny floors, everyday will I stride
With medical supplies, in my hand I shall cautiously grasp,
My long hair twisted in a bun, tied with a net, sheltered with a cap.
There’s no time to sit, my busy hands never go empty
A peek of my sunken eyes, will they ever grow sleepy?
As I stroll by the white walls, in my mind,
I wished, I was home with you that day!

Just a glimpse of a one long night,
Attending to a client, his eyes, so deep.
With an IV line on his left, his height about six feet.
So strong a physique, now frail, lazy and weak.
If he smiles, will mine eyes turn misty?
For I know not the extent I will long for thee.
Swiftly I shall turn away, with cold tears,
unfathomable what may surround me.

I shall take his vital signs, his cold hands held unto mine
With moist eyes, while I take his pulse rate
Like the ocean waves, rhythmically,
I shall flow with his heartbeat.
What may I know but of this man I know not?
What’s with the man that I feel in my gut?
Oh my love, will I hold you beyond the day’s tomorrow?
Will you still be, for we have vowed and said forever?

Ah, somber mystery of this man’s eyes unspeaking
Is that a mirror of an enigma,
Of life’s love with my spouse?
Why, where has this left mine heart seeking?
For I know the secret since the world has known.
And now, where has this left mine spirit fleeing?
The rite of promises, yet they are all unknown.
Alas! To the cross, I lay them down, answers He will have shown.

I KNOW THE MAN

This poem is dedicated to
my ever true
and loving husband,
Bim

I know of a man
hardworking and strong
whose hands are busy
and works day long.
He stands with a good name
with integrity, not fame
to his children he leaves
a legacy, unblemished.
To model a life of wisdom
for Christ, as he gets older.
I know this because
He is a father.

I know of such a man
who shares the pain
and rejoices when
a sibling has a gain.
He lends a hand
when trouble comes
and will always
be there to understand.
He sees first the other
before his very own.
I know this because
He is a brother.

I know of that man
reflects the heart
of his love for Christ
Who walks in faith
And trusts so deep
His words he always keeps.
He loves the Lord
for Him to hold his dreams
and hopes unfold
and trust His plans.
I know this because
He is a Christian.

I know the man
from God He gave
to one who loves him so.
His words are gentle
and loves so warm
his touch is always fragile.
A best friend, forever
a wise mentor,
and a mysterious lover.
He treats me grand
I know this because
He is my husband.

Crossroads - "My cup is filled"

It's a cool
clammy morning
I feel the air
breezing,
smell of green grass
my eyes look up
with my empty cup.
A lovely day -
blue skies amass
I lay my Bible
on my lap,
to drink of living waters
to bath in showers
that never rans dry -
pools of streams
refreshes a neck that's wry.
Holy Spirit, it's me, You leadeth,
like a dance
in the heat waves,
my spirit will not waives
or in the desert
my well pollulates.

You bring truth to emptiness
to overflowing
from barreness,
my heart bestowing.
In Your presence
so infilling.
My cup runneth over
surely I drink
and am satisfied -
yet no one knows!
Into my depths
purport sinks.
And so I dance and sing
With my soul, I cling
Unto You, O God
Precious love, You bring.
Living waters,
a real thing.
O glorious God
I wear Your ring
I wish they knew
You are my King!

Song of Redemption

written February 3, 2007
Dumaguete
Women's Retreat

When I am sad, You take the frown
When fast I ran, You slow me down
When down I drown, You pull me up
And to the ground, You lift me up.

Oh Lord my God, You shine above
No more to hide, no more the pride
You wrap me love, you keep me warm
No more the tears, no more the harm.

When I am tired, You grant me rest
And when I'm swift, You say, "not yet"
When heart's so hard, Your love abounds
When I am lost, You take me home.

Oh Lord my God, Your love everlasting
When I'm wayward, You always cling
When I go far, You stay and wait
With grace You stay until I'm found.

When I'm afraid, You cover me
With hands so tender, You comfort me
Heavens may fall, and stars no more
Your ever presence, fears are washed ashore.

Oh Lord my God, You love me so
For this I know, You always show
My precious God, my loving God
My heart is filled, my heart is glad.

Seasons of Time Under Heaven

written Februay 2, 2007

Lectio Divina 1

no reason to scurry
nor be in a hurry
my life's been fashioned
according to His own.

no reason to weep
over past hurts and mistakes
for He knows what's in store
my future is secure.

no need to look back
for I know no lack
He gives me light
with His wings, I can fly!

Yet no need to burrow
my head in sorrow
for He is my arrow
I can face my tomorrow

Yes Lord, I trust You
Yes Lord, I will obey You
Yes Lord, I adore You
Yes Lord, I love You!

Prayerful Eyes

Those chocolate brown eyes
Oh how bright as the skies!
Encapsulated in innocence
bristled with sweetness -
like honey in the wild
so pure, untainted.

They shine like pearls -
like stars, they magically twinkle.
unlike the other girls-
my heart, they tickle.
the very depths of my being,
once touched, gleefully, I sing.

Those eyes, subtle as they seem,
many beautiful days they have seen.
Moments of sorrow, they hide in a shadow.
Though they love laughing freely, like a dove.
Yet like glass, so fragile, so sweet -
a chiseled crystal that crumbles under anyone’s feet.

There was once, those eyes, I glanced,
and was healed from life’s hurts and pains.
A balm like green grass in the fields
of dandelions and fresh rain
or a stream of silver leaves afloat,
Oh heavens! They’re truly I devote!

Those gorgeous eyes belong to-
A child’s prayerful heart.
Those eyes reflect the windows to
whom I dearly love.
Each day, many names she lifts up to
the Heavenly One above.

Protect those eyes, Oh God.
I pray they’re never sad.
For all the blessed years to come
Life’s troubles, I wish she'll never have.
Oh God, grant my cry, a mother’s desire
Unto her heart and spirit, ignite afire.

But only then can I be at rest
When I release her to you, Father.
She'll journey on her own life's quest
the only way to stay stronger
and fulfill her dreams to her best
I can only hold her for so much longer.

May she grow fearing You,
who will stand but never afraid.
May she trust and obey You
unwavering, that she’ll never trade.
And forevermore love You -
a devotion that will never fade.

A Silent Prayer

written during my desert experience

MY SILENT PRAYER

I come to you, O Lord in prayer,
Knowing and believing, you're always there;
With folded hands and bended knees,
Prayer, I know, is the ultimate key.

I wept, my heart in despair,
I asked if You ever care,
"Trust and Obey", was all I could hear,
In my heart, t'was ever so clear.

"Come and taste my goodness," You mused,
All the while I wandered, so confused.
In the desert, I was dry and alone-
Bewildered, I pondered until dawn.

Finally, I released of myself and stripped off,
Suddenly, fresh annointing of Your Spirit, I felt.
So gentle, so loving, so fragile, so soft,
Before His throne, with humility, my heart melts.

In prayer, relentlessly, unknown,
My God, in His favor, He has shown-
True love, my burdens He has carried,
For me on the cross until He was buried.

You gave me Hope, You gave me life!
Through resurrection power, You are my light.
My heavy yoke, the battle is not my fight,
But by Your Spirit, not mine power nor might.

Precious dear Lord, I thank you, I pray-
I will hear of you, in Your arms I stay.
In my silent prayer, You teach me to do,
In my life's journey, you leadeth I go.

I now have the answer

Oh the sky so blue!
Why? I don't know a clue.
Why do I bother?
I wish I have the answer.

Why the sand slip,
In my hand when I grip?
Why do I inquire?
I wish I have the answer.

Why is there?
And why so queer?
I wish I know
I wish I have the answer.

Can God see
The queries in me?
Why, does it matter?
I wish I have the answer.

But He has all the answer!
Why, my mind blow....
I don’t know
I wish I have the answer.

Why? I ask
Because He says,
"I am who I am"
I now have the answer.

On the little things and the little creature

I had my moment this early morning and took a picture of the baho-baho flowers that are abundantly flourishing in the garden. When I uploaded the picture unto my laptap, I noticed a little creature that was focused on my camera.

This reminds me of the things we take for granted. Oftentimes, we miss out the little things that gives beauty to life!

The Little Things
by Marian Jones

Thank you God for little things
That bring much joy our way,
Like a sudden burst of sunshine
Cleansing a sky of grey.

A kindness from a stranger,
Children's laughter as they play;
There are so many little things
That brighten up each day.

Things we take for granted,
Like someone's thoughtful deed;
A perfect flower unfolding
Amidst a patch of weeds.

So at the end of every day
When we turn to God and pray
Let's thank Him for the little things,
He loves to send our way.

Strong Woman vs. A Woman with Strength

My Jonathan Prayer partner and very dear friend, Jessa, sent me this poem. You must have read this before... but it has reminded me who I am and what I should be in the Lord.... "A woman of Strength!" We all are. I hope this will bless you as it has blessed me today.

A strong woman works out every day to keep her body in shape ... but a woman of strength kneels in prayer to keep her soul in shape...

A strong woman isn't afraid of anything ... but a woman of strength shows courage in the midst of her fear...

A strong woman won't let anyone get the best of her ... but a woman of strength gives the best of her to everyone...

A strong woman makes mistakes and avoids the same in the future... a woman of strength realizes life's mistakes can also be God's blessings and capitalizes on them...

A strong woman walks surefootedly ... but a woman of strength knows God will catch her when she falls...

A strong woman wears the look of confidence on her face ... but a woman of strength wears grace...

A strong woman has faith that she is strong enough for the journey ... but a woman of strength has faith that it is in the journey that she will become strong...
